Mission Statement
Hope for Grieving Children provides children a supportive and understanding peer group setting that encourages expression of the grief experience verbally and through creative, positive play outlets. Entering its 20th year, Hope for Grieving Children Georgia provides a safe and supportive environment where children grieving a death can share their experience with each other. This program offers a unique opportunity for children to begin and continue their journey as they move through the healing process. It also extends supportive services to family, caregivers, schools and the community.
Our Principles
The Hope for Grieving Children program believes every child deserves the opportunity to grieve in a supportive and understanding environment.
- Grief is a natural reaction to the loss of a loved one for children as well as adults
- Within each individual is the natural capacity to heal oneself
- The duration and intensity of grief are unique for each individual
- Caring and acceptance assist in the healing process
